Hello, I’m Mayura Raman, the founder of Mayura Couture, a fashion brand that embodies my passion for comfortable & timeless apparel. I am now, finally happy and excited to be working in the area of my passion after decades of being in a corporate job, which I quit about 7 years ago, to focus on my children and raise them as a single parent.
During this difficult and trying time, I discovered a profound sense of fulfillment in my love for threads, weaves and fabrics. What started as a direction to navigate a challenging chapter in my life transformed into a vibrant expression of creativity and empowerment, not just for myself, but for women, to love themselves, be free, strong, brave, and take on challenges.
The founder’s story: Corporate life to Fashion Entrepreneur.
The path has been a trek of climbs and descents, rocky surfaces, and slippery stretches too. I have treaded winding stretches, navigating through roadblocks and craters. I encountered crossroads again, after 25 plus years of corporate world experience.
It was a significant shift from the guaranteed and consistent income.
This journey opened possibilities I had never explored or even imagined.
I enjoy every bit of my learning from handpicking fabrics to the end design. There is an element of my passion in every step of the process from fabric to finish.
As I share my story with you, my heart is filled with gratitude to my rock-solid family, standing with me, supporting me like a retaining wall, to pursue my passion for fashion. And here I am, out of simmer mode. I have taken the bold step to immerse myself in the colors, vibrance and rich textures of fabrics, to bring to you comfortable and timeless fashion apparel through my brand. The stitches not only hold the apparel together, but hold me together too, helping me tread the difficult path, one step at a time.
This period of exploration and experience has not been just about designing and crafting beautiful pieces of apparel. Most importantly, it has been healing and empowering for me. Today, through fashion, I can share a message of self-acceptance and individuality with women. It is a revelation that what I create can inspire others to embrace their unique identity of beauty - just as I am learning to do. It has been a daunting journey but has ignited the fire within me. I pour my heart into designing apparel that celebrates every woman’s unique shape and style, crafting pieces that empowers you to express who you truly are.
